UAE Gulf League side Al Wahda’s president Rashid Al Zaabi has shot down reports claiming that they are offering Al Ahly head coach Pitso Mosimane R74.5 million to quit the Egyptian giants and join them.
There has been speculation that former Mamelodi Sundowns coach Mosimane could be on his way out of Ahly when his contract expires.
The Red Devils’ recent poor performances in the league and Super Cup have added to Mosimane’s exit rumours.
Various media reports in Egypt claim UAE-based side Al Wahda had allegedly made an offer of $5 million (±R74.5 million) to Mosimane.
The staggering amount is also thought to be three times more than what he earns at Al Ahly.
However, club President Rashid Al Zaabi says the rumours are not true and called them laughable.
“The rumours about negotiations with Mosimane are completely fake, we trust our technical staff and we are not looking for replacements,” Al Zaabi was quoted as per KingFut.
“Pitso Mosimane is Al Ahly head coach, we wish success to both the coach and the club, but we haven’t contacted them.
“I encourage people not to listen to agents, these are laughable rumours, we have full respect for Al Ahly, and if we plan to do business with them, we will contact the club directly.”
