Aldi is known for its bargains and Specialbuys – but there are ways to save even more money at the discount grocer.

An insider at the supermarket has explained how to get the best Specialbuys – and revealed all about a “secret” sale most shoppers don’t know about.

Aldi managing director of buying Julie Ashfield said it is all down to timing and knowing where to look.

For example, Specialbuys get released in the middle aisle every Thursday and Sunday in stores.

But you can pre-order most items online first – meaning you won’t even need to physically visit an Aldi to pick up the latest deal.

Aldi has a dedicated page on its website where you can see what Specialbuys are due in stores and online.

How to save money at the supermarket

“My top tip is to pre-order products online – that way shoppers can get their hands on the very latest Specialbuys before their on sale date,” Julie told The Sun.

Some items are only available online, so checking the Aldi website first means you won’t miss out on any bargains.

Be warned though, the most popular Specialbuys often attract virtual queues of thousands of people.

How do you save money in the supermarkets? Let us know in the comments below.

One of the best examples is the famous egg chair or Aldi garden furniture.

Aldi shoppers might also not know they can get a range of Specialbuys at an even lower price.

The supermarket has a sale section on its website, where you can find Specialbuys that are no longer available in stores for a lower price.

Household items that are still cheap amid soaring inflation, according to expert

Shoppers will no doubt still be looking to cut back after being warned of a £180 price rise in their food shop, due to the cost of living crisis.

This is according to consultants Kantar, which found annual grocery inflation was 3.8% over the past four weeks, up from 3.5% in December.

Another way to save cash at Aldi is to look out for reductions of up to 75% on food that is going out of date but is still good to eat.

Instead of using yellow stickers, Aldi uses red reductions labels.

‘I tested out high-end skincare compared to Aldi dupes – and I was shocked by results’

The times that items are reduced vary by store and are sold on a first-come, first-served basis – so be sure to keep an eye out for red stickers.

If you miss out on the 75% deals, the supermarket also has a scheme where it marks down certain goods by 30% if the packaging is imperfect.

This includes items such as rice, pasta, cereal and tinned food.

Aldi also picks six fruit and vegetables every fortnight to be lowered in price as part of its “Super Six” promotion.

The same goes for its range of fresh meat, with six items being reduced every two weeks – both in store and online.

You can see what is on offer on the Aldi website.
