Cleaning the bathroom and kitchen can be a tiresome chore, particularly when it comes to tackling grout stains.
Whether the grout around the shower has turned a delightful shade of yellow or flooring grout is covered in black dirt stains, a cleaning influencer has shared her “five-minute” remedy.
Taking to TikTok, Carolina Mccauley has shared a video on how to clean grout without having to purchase specialist cleaning sprays.
She captioned the TikTok saying that this method uses “the best grout cleaning combo”.
For this cleaning hack, households will need one cup of baking soda, half a cup of hydrogen peroxide and one tablespoon of washing-up liquid.
Carolina starts the video off by instructing households to mix together the baking soda, hydrogen peroxide and washing up liquid in a container.
Baking soda is a safe deodoriser, whitener, and household cleaner – and it’s an effective natural grout cleaner.
As baking soda is also a mild abrasive, using it for cleaning grout lines gives you extra firepower without the risk of scratching the tiles.
Hydrogen peroxide has so many uses, and it’s especially good at brightening discoloured grout.
Unlike vinegar, which can corrode the grout over time, hydrogen peroxide is a gentle disinfectant that is non-toxic when used correctly.
Once the solution was made, Carolina used a measuring cup to pour it between the grout lines.
She then went in with a grout scrubbing brush to gently work the solution in.
For those who don’t have a grout scrubbing brush to hand, an old toothbrush would suffice.
To finish off, the cleaning influencer, when in with a damp microfibre cloth to wipe away the solution.
Once the area had been wiped down, the once-stained dark grey grout appeared lighter and stain-free.
For those looking for another natural method to clean and white grout, Express.co.uk recently put shaving foam to the test – and it did not disappoint.
