Simone Ashley and Jonathan Bailey in Bridgerton.
Like its predecessor, Bridgerton season two has had record-breaking viewership since its debut on the streaming service.
Variety reports the show was viewed for 193 million hours over its release weekend per Netflix’s newly released Top 10 rankings for the week of 21-27 March.
The second season of the regency era drama based on the novels by Julia Quinn is now the most-watched Netflix English-language TV show in its premiere weekend in the streaming service’s history.
In January 2021, the streaming service announced that the first season was its biggest show ever. The show was watched by a record 82 million households in its first 28 days of release.
Season two follows Viscount Anthony Bridgerton (Jonathan Bailey) in his quest for love. Joining the ton this season are Kate Sharma (Simone Ashley) and her younger sister Edwina Sharma (Charithra Chandran), who Anthony begins to court. Kate and Anthony soon clash when it becomes clear that Anthony “seeks a wife only to fulfil his duty” and not for love. However, their constant sparring draws them closer, which makes things complicated.
