After months of waiting, Cadbury has finally unveiled its new plant-based chocolate bar and has issued an apology for its delay
Cadbury has finally announced the release of its first ever vegan chocolate bar – and there are two different flavours to choose from.
After two years of development, Brits will soon be able to get their hands on the Cadbury Plant Bar in “Smooth Chocolate” and “Smooth Chocolate with Salted Caramel pieces”.
Priced at £2.50 each, the new dairy-free chocolates will go on sale in Sainsbury’s stores from November, before landing at other supermarkets and newsagents from January 2022.
Each bar is made with a blend of cocoa, almond paste and rice extract to deliver a smooth texture.
The move comes after a survey suggested almost a quarter of vegans missed Cadbury Dairy Milk more than any other chocolate.
Accompanying the announcement of its new vegan chocolate bars, Cadbury issued an apology to plant-based Brits for taking so long to produce them.
The much-loved confectionary brand said: “Dear plant-based Britain, we’re sorry.
“Sorry it’s taken this long. Sorry it seemed like we weren’t listening to your calls. Sorry for not being able to respond to the rumours. And sorry for all the other chocolate you’ve had to eat while you waited.
“We simply wanted it to be perfect. And, just as with plants, perfection takes time. But the Cadbury Plant Bar is finally ready.
“A delicious smooth chocolate without the “glass and half”. We hope you’ll agree it was worth the wait.”
Michael Moore, Marketing Manager at Cadbury, said: “We’re delighted to finally confirm that the rumours swirling around Cadbury Plant Bar are true!
“We’ve worked hard to add this delicious, dairy-free option to our iconic range, and we can only apologise for making our fans wait,” he added.
“Ensuring we deliver against our commitment to exceptional flavour has taken quite some time, but as of November, the wait is over.”
Retailing at £2.50, Cadbury’s Plant Bar will be available to buy in Sainsbury’s stores across Britain from November 2021 and newsagents and supermarkets nationwide from January 2022 onwards.
