Tyson Fury firm on retirement after win over Dillian Whyte

A photo from Tyson Fury’s stoppage win over Dillian Whyte appears to show the champion knocking out his rival’s tooth with his fight-winning shot.

Fury landed a right uppercut in the final seconds of the sixth round at Wembley on Saturday night to stop Whyte and to retain his heavyweight world title. Whyte was dropped to the canvas and although he rose on wobbly legs, the fight was rightly waved off by referee Mark Lyson.

And fans were convinced that Whyte lost a tooth to compound his misery as his first world title challenge ended in failure. One fan even created a Twitter account which claimed the tooth had landed in Southampton, while another said: “Dillian Whyte’s tooth has just landed in Watford.”

Fury later admitted he hadn’t noticed whether or not he had sent a pearly white flying as he basked in the glory of his second successful title defence. “I didn’t see, to be honest,” he said. Fury dominated the fight from the early stages as Whyte struggled to judge the distance between himself and the elusive champion.

And he insists he has nothing left to prove, despite a potential undisputed clash with Anthony Joshua or Oleksandr Usyk. “I’ve given 20 years to boxing, amateur and professional,” he said. “I’ve had my brains knocked about, been put down, dropped, cut, I’ve had tough fights, draws, wins, I’ve boxed all over the world.

Should Tyson Fury retire? Let us know in the comments section below

“How much blood can you get out of a stone? I’ve given everything and put it on the line every single time and enough is enough. If it was about money I’d continue but it ain’t about money, so I’m happy. It’s never been about money, I’m not a money person. I know a lot of people who have money, big money, but none of them are happy, not one of them.

“Money cannot make happiness, it’s not been about belts for me, it’s not legacies, it’s not been about anything apart from punching a motherf*****’s face in on the night. All I ever want to do is win.”
