A fitness fanatic with abs of steel was shocked to be told she was eight months pregnant – despite having never missed a period or grown a baby bump.

Revonni Adams, 22, went to the doctor complaining of severe indigestion, without realising the real cause was her advanced pregnancy.

The trainee accountant, from Windhoek, Namibia, had been taking acid indigestion medication for some time, but made the appointment after it stopped working.

With visible abs and no missing periods, Revonni never expected the doctor to tell her that she was in fact eight months pregnant.

She said: “As I laid down for the doctor to do the check-up, the last thing either of us was expecting was to hear ‘you’re pregnant’.

“I was in so much shock that I was arguing with a professional on why it seemed impossible for me to be pregnant. I looked at my partner and he was dead silent.

“I was lowkey happy but I didn’t want to seem excited or get my hopes up because, in my mind, the doctor definitely made a mistake.

“The drive home was absolutely silent, we were both in our minds just trying to wrap our heads around the fact that in a few weeks, I would actually be giving birth to a whole person.

“But eventually my partner disrupted the silence by laughing and saying that my barbecue wings and peanut butter cravings now all made sense.

“The possibility of pregnancy hadn’t even crossed my mind because I wasn’t missing my period and I literally still had abs.

“I had absolutely no signs at all, I never missed my period, I had no morning sickness, weight gain or even tummy growth. Nothing at all.

“So you could understand my reasoning for arguing with the doctor after that revelation.”

Revonni and her 28-year-old partner, who she doesn’t wish to name, are both fitness fanatics and love to spend time in the gym.

Her partner is also her personal trainer, and helped her achieve chiselled abs that were visible until the last few weeks of her pregnancy.

She added: “For about three years now, I’ve been on acid indigestion medication, so every time I consume carbonated drinks or spicy foods, I experience nausea, severe cramps, extreme bloating and basic loss of appetite.

“As a result of this, I became so ill- fatigue, nausea, bloating and severe cramps. I decided to go to the doctor and renew my prescription for my acid indigestion medication.

“I lay on the bed debriefing my symptoms to the doctors and as she’s feeling my tummy she tells me ‘No no dear, you’re pregnant.’

“My immediate reaction was to laugh and start giving her all my reasons for why that seemed impossible. She insisted that the head was already facing down and explained I could give birth any minute now.

“She first said I was around 36 weeks, but after an ultrasound to confirm we found out that I was 30 weeks pregnant.

“I was in denial. Imagine going to the doctor for an acid problem and being told you’re actually about to give birth to a stranger.

“As soon as I found out I was expecting a baby, I swear my bump began to aggressively pop over the remaining few weeks of my pregnancy.”

Revonni and her partner have been together for two years and regularly joke about having five children together, however, they didn’t expect it would happen so soon.

She says that they’re both still young and that their careers are only just commencing, so they weren’t expecting to have a family until further into the future.

Revonni added: “Our only concern was the adjustments that we had to start making, in terms of finance, health, and our professional careers.

“What my family would say was never a concern for me, I have the most loving and supportive mum. I called her the day we found out and she’s been buying baby stuff ever since.

“I am so excited now, to be honest. I cannot wait to meet my little human.

“I’m past my due date now so we’re expecting our little acid reflux baby any day now.

“Obviously it took a minute to settle into the idea of having sleepless nights and losing my very toned abs but I can honestly say that there’s never been any feeling of regret or shame since I found out. I’m nervous yes, but definitely more excited.”
