A waterfront mansion once owned by football legend Harry Redknapp has sold for £10million – smashing the record for the most expensive home ever sold in Sandbanks.

The stunning Harbour Gate property, which was home to Harry and his beloved wife Sandra for 13 years, backs on to the entrance of scenic Poole Harbour.

It boasts an impressive six bedrooms, a cinema, wine cellar and an indoor swimming pool, as well as a gym and sauna, private jetty with room for two jet skis and two sun terraces.

The lucky new owner will also inherit a double garage with a professional dog grooming bathtub and driveway parking for ten cars.

If that wasn’t enough, the property also offers a three bedroom detached gatehouse worth £1million.

In terms of more traditional features you’d expect in a new home, there is a kitchen and breakfast room, dining room and lounge.

The master bedroom, meanwhile, comes with a large en suite bathroom, huge dressing room and a balcony with views of the water.

Harry and Sandra purchased the mock-Tudor home in Poole, Dorset, for a cool £3million in 2001 and sold it for £6.9million in 2015.

The couple sold it to millionaire businessman Barry Bester, the founder of Topps Tiles, who spent £2.5million doing it up and is the person who just sold it.

Its £10million sale price is almost £2million more than the previous record price of £8.09million for a Sandbanks home.

This is the price paid for the mansion next door to the Redknapps’ former home in 2018.

But if you have the cash to flash, and you missed out on this property, you’ll be pleased to know this is one of two homes currently on sale in Sandbanks that used to belong to the football manager and his wife.

Further along the millionaires resort, a second luxury home owned by the Redknapps until 2003 is on the market for £5million.

“The house occupies arguably the best position on Sandbanks.

“It sits on a double-sized plot and comes with a lodge house on the grounds that would be quite a valuable house on its own merits.

“It has had a lot of money lavished on it by the seller and every aspect of it if exceptional.

“We have got unprecedented demand for high-end waterside homes at the moment, principally from buyers based in London and beyond.

“There are now more buyers than there are sellers.

“This has been fuelled by wealthy individuals relocating from London and other parts of the country as well as those looking for additional homes.

“‘We have clients who have been able to run their businesses away from offices in town during the pandemic and want homes by the sea where they can work.”
