She once admitted that divorcing her first husband “was
probably the dumbest thing I’ve ever done”. So when Angelina Jolie was recently
seen slipping into Jonny Lee Miller’s New York apartment, it left many
wondering if a reunion might be on the cards.
Angie was spotted arriving dressed in a trench coat and
wearing a face mask without a bodyguard in sight. After buzzing, she stood
clutching a bottle of pricy red wine – waiting patiently to be let in.
And evidently she and her ex had a lot of catching up to do
because she only emerged three hours later.
Angie whisked her six kids, Maddox (19), Pax (17), Zahara
(16), Shiloh (15) and twins Vivienne and Knox (12), away to the Big Apple as
she turned 46 recently, kicking off a week of celebrations.
“They went out to museums and dinner
with each other through the trip and had a nice time,” an insider says.
During her stay in the city she found time
to catch up with Jonny (48).
Even though they parted ways in 1997, she
and the British actor have remained in touch.
Since her split from Brad Pitt in 2016
she’s expressed doubt that she will ever be ready to open her heart again – but
many are now wondering if Jonny will be the man who gets her to change her
mind.
There was an almost instant attraction
between the former couple when they met on the the set of the 1995
movie Hackers. Within six months, the pair tied the knot in an intimate
ceremony with only two guests in attendance – the bride’s mother, Marcheline
Bertrand, and a friend of the groom.
Angelina, who was then only 20, set tongues wagging with
her choice of outfit for the ceremony: a pair of black rubber pants and a T-shirt
with Jonny’s name written on it in her own blood.
“It’s your husband,” she said at the time. “You’re about to
marry him. You can sacrifice a little to make it really special.”
Sadly, their busy schedules put a strain on the marriage
and within a year they’d parted ways, filing for divorce in 1999.
“There are no regrets and no bitterness,” Jonny said.
“Marriage was something that didn’t work out, and I had to make the decision
sooner or later. I decided to make it sooner.”
In 2008 he married Mulholland Drive actress Michele Hicks from
whom he eventually split in 2018.
And as for Angie, having gone through two more divorces –
from Billy Bob Thornton and Brad Pitt – she definitely seems to regard her time
with Jonny as one of her easiest relationships.
“Jonny and I never fought
and we never hurt each other,” she said in an interview several years ago. “I
really wanted to be his wife. I really wanted to commit.”
Although insiders insist that Angie and
Jonny are just close friends, fans are hoping that now older and wiser, the
pair may decide to give love another go.
After all, that’s just what two other famous
exes, Ben Affleck and Jennifer Lopez, have done – and see how happy they’re
looking.
