Miss Supranational Chanique Rabe’s victory tour kicks off in Namibia | Channel

• Namibia’s Chanique Rabe took home the title of Miss Supranational 2021 at the 12th edition of the international beauty pageant in Malopolska, Poland, on 21 August.
• The 24-year-old is the first Miss Supranational from the African continent, and the 12th edition also marked the first time two finalists from Africa placed in the top five.
• Chanique has now welcomed the Miss Supranational team to her home country, to show the president and creative director her ‘From the Ground Up’ initiative and film a marketing video to promote Namibia’s beauty.

Africa’s first Miss Supranational, Chanique Rabe, kicked off her victory tour in her home country of Namibia. 

The 24-year-old was crowned Miss Supranational 2021 at the 12th edition of the international beauty pageant in Malopolska, Poland, on 21 August – the first winner from the African continent in the pageant’s history.

Speaking to Channel24 following her win, Chanique said: “The fact that African countries are being seen and recognised on a global scale, it’s so special, really. I am grateful that Namibia is so excited about this. I can just feel the love and the energy. Just seeing everyone’s excitement – it means the world to me.” 

As part of her victory tour, Chanique has now excitedly welcomed the Miss Supranational president and creative director to Namibia to show them her ‘From the Ground Up’ initiatives and film a video to promote the natural beauty of Namibia. 

The first stop was Windhoek, where she met with the ministries of Education, Arts and Culture and Sports and Youth. Chanique expressed her desire to make a difference in her country through her sewing classes, which aim to empower young people with skills to use in their everyday lives. 

In 2020, Chanique started teaching sewing skills at the Hope Village Orphanage. She has been returning regularly to continue the work she started. The team visited Hope Village last week. 

“I am so proud of the work Chani is doing. Watching the kids’ faces light up when she arrived really touched my heart. They presented their creations, and it was so beautiful to see how excited they were to show their creations. The creativity in the work was also astounding,” said Miss Supranational creative director Andre Sleigh. 

The team arrived in the Zambezi Region of northeast Namibia, where Chanique has her own sewing school. Her first school was opened in February 2021 at the Sijwa project by African Monarch Lodges. 

“We chose Chani not because of her beauty title but because of the authentic person she is. Her heart for people shines through, and the skill set that she is transferring to the young people can make a real difference in our Mayuni Conservancy, with whom we have a joint venture partnership. It will offer our youth aspirational goals, which we are extremely excited about,” explained Tinolla Rodgers, co-owner of African Monarch Lodges. 

Chanique and the Miss Supranational team will visit the region until Wednesday before heading to Swakopmund and Walvis Bay.
