Lee Daniels and Mo’Nique have ended their feud after 13
years.
In an interview with The Hollywood Reporter in 2015, the
comedian claimed that she was ‘blackballed’ after winning the Oscar for Best
Supporting Actress in Precious, directed by Daniels.
At the time, Mo’Nique said: “I got a phone call from
Lee Daniels maybe six or seven months ago,” And he said to me, ‘Mo’Nique,
you’ve been blackballed.’ And I said, ‘I’ve been blackballed? Why have I been
blackballed?'”
In a statement to the publication, Daniels said that
“Her demands through Precious were not always in line with the campaign.
This soured her relationship with the Hollywood community. I consider her a
friend.”
Now the pair have made up, and Mo’Nique will replace Octavia
Spencer in his upcoming Netflix thriller Demon House reports Deadline.
On Friday the pair publicly reconciled during an event in
Staten Island. In a video posted by Pop Crave, the Empire directr apologised to
Mo’Nique.
“I am so sorry, I am so sorry for hurting you in any
way that I did, he said.
“Y’all, and she was my best friend — my best friend.
Y’all think that Precious was just … That was God working, through both of us.
And we’re gonna fucking do it again!”
