Prince Harry and Meghan Markle paid tribute to service members on Remembrance Day and Veterans Day.
Remembrance Day in the UK and Veteran’s Day in the US, held on 11 November, is a memorial day to honour those who serve and served in the armed forces.
The Sussexes shared a touching photo by Chris Allerton and a message on their Archewell Foundation website. In the black and white picture the couple face military staff including one holding the American flag.
“On this Veterans Day and Remembrance Day, we honour service members across the world. These brave men and women, as well as their families, have made tremendous sacrifices and embody duty and service.”
They continued: “We are proud to work with so many organisations that support veterans and military families, including: The Invictus Games Foundation, The Mission Continues, Team Rubicon, Scotty’s Little Soldiers and The Greatest GENERATIONS Foundation. Today and every day, thank you for your service.”
According to People magazine, the duke and duchess visited a military base in New Jersey last year to mark Veterans Day. At a lunch for service members and their spouses, the couple discussed mental health and the importance of community.
A day before their visit, Harry and Meghan attended the 2021 Salute to Freedom gala – an event to honour veterans.
