Cristiano Ronaldo is famous for his chiselled physique and meticulous diet – so much so that Troy Deeney says he would “eat horses***” if the Manchester United forward did.
Ronaldo has already influenced behaviour in the canteen since returning to Old Trafford this summer in a £20million transfer from Juventus.
Aged 36, he is arguably in the best shape of his career and the Portugal captain’s decision not to dabble in dessert has been rubbing off on his United teammates.
Deeney is hugely impressed by Ronaldo’s longevity and discipline, declaring he would partake in whatever the five-time Ballon d’Or eats – even excrement.

The Birmingham City striker, 33, told The Sun : “If I saw Ronaldo eating horses**t for a pre-match meal, I’d eat horses**t too!
“Everyone knows how well Ronaldo looks after himself. God, we saw it when he ripped off his shirt after scoring for Portugal against the Republic of Ireland and breaking the all-time international goalscoring record the other week.
“I mean, as professional footballers, we’re not in bad shape but that was talked about a lot. Everyone was jealous of that six pack.”
Deeney’s comments on Ronaldo’s impeccable fitness come after veteran United goalkeeper Lee Grant provided an insight into his diet.
“I’ll tell you one of his plates – he had several. One of them was quinoa, avocado and a couple of boiled eggs,” Grant told talkSPORT .
“Listen, this guy is in incredible shape. He’s actually got the second best body behind me now at the club – and that’s saying something, so fair play to him!”

The 38-year-old shot-stopper also opened up on the amusing episode which saw every United player snub dessert after seeing Ronaldo do so.
“This was Friday night in the group hotel,” said Grant. “So, as you guys will be aware, you finish your dinner and usually on a Friday night you’ve got a few cheat stuff out.
“You’ve got some apple crumble or you’ve got a bit of brownie and cream or what not.
“I tell you now, not one player touched the apple crumble and custard, not one player went up for that brownie because everybody was sat down and one of the lads said to me, ‘What has Cristiano got on his plate?’
“So we were having a little goosey gander at what he has got and obviously it is the cleanest, most healthy plate you can imagine.
“And it just cracked me up how not one single player dared get up and have that junk food that was laid out.”
