Signal appears to be down for some users on Friday night.

Down Detector showed over 2,000 reports from users who are experiencing issues on the encrypted messaging platform around. Several Insider staff members also experienced issues sending and receiving messages on both the mobile and desktop apps, across the USA, UK, and South Africa.

The reported issues come after Signal saw record increases in users. WhatsApp announced that it would force users to share their personal data with Facebook, and users began flocking to alternative messaging apps as a result.

Signal saw 7.5 million downloads last week, a 4,200% spike since the previous week.
