Mamelodi Sundowns put
the sword to AmaZulu in a 3-0 victory to advance to the Carling Black Label Cup
final at FNB Stadium on Saturday.
It took the Brazilians
just five minutes to get the scoreboard rolling as a deflected shot from
Cassius Mailula wrong-footed Usuthu goalkeeper Veli Mothwa and hit the back of
the net.
Usuthu remained on the
back foot for the entire first stanza, but Masandawana did not take advantage
of several chances to extend their lead.
The second goal only
came midway through the second half, with Suprise Ralani linking with Gaston
Sirino, who teed up Haashim Domingo to tap home from close range.
The third and final
goal before the full-time whistle came courtesy of Ralani as he beautifully
curled the ball into the top corner to ensure the Sundowns’ passage to the
final.
The Brazilians will face
Kaizer Chiefs or Orlando Pirates in the final, while AmaZulu will face the
losers of that match in a third/fourth-place playoff.
The final will kick
off at 17:15 after the third/fourth-place playoff encounter.
