A new supercomputer has shared a predicted final Premier League table showing how Cristiano Ronaldo could impact Manchester United on his homecoming.

CIES Football Observatory Weekly has used a statistical model to predict how Europe’s top five leagues could finish this season.

The model combines factors like players’ experience, transfer fees invested into squads and the performance of each team over the last 365 days.

In the Premier League, the model has United being pipped to the top by rivals Manchester City once again.

Ronaldo has already raised the roof at Old Trafford with four goals in three appearances for the Red Devils so far this season.

But the model does not think that he has what it takes to get them to the top and win the Premier League even as many pundits tip him to challenge for the Golden Boot.

Pep Guardiola’s Man City have started the season well, but not reached the lofty heights of the nigh impervious side they were at times last season.

CIES’ model however, has them topping the league once again for back-to-back Premier League wins.

Liverpool and Chelsea are predicted to finish after the two Manchester clubs in third and fourth, meaning the top four is identical to last season’s.

It means, despite winning last season’s Champions League and bringing in Romelu Lukakau, Chelsea are predicted to sneak Champions League qualification with a fourth-place finish.

So far this season, Thomas Tuchel’s Chelsea remain unbeaten and has impressed at every turn.

And despite Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool starting the season well as they finished the last, but are predicted a third-place finish by the model.

Outside the top four, the model has Tottenham finishing fifth, with Everton, Leicester and West Ham behind them.

It predicts Newcastle United, Watford and Norwich will be left in the relegation zone to face the drop.

Burnley currently languish second from bottom but the model has them just making it out of the relegation zone with a 17th place finish.

Across Europe, the model has Real Madrid clinching La Liga with rivals Atletico Madrid finishing second and then Barcelona and Sevilla completing the top four.

Inter Milan are predicted to win Serie A with Juventus falling to sixth place, following Ronaldo’s exit, and Napoli are a surprise runner up in the Italian league according to the model’s predictions.

As most would expect, it has put Bayern Munich and PSG atop their leagues respectively and the model has Wolfsburg second in the Bundesliga after a bright start so far this season.
