Mrs Hinch, whose real name is Sophie Hinchliffe, garnered popularity after sharing her cleaning tips and recommendations on social media and TV. The cleaning enthusiast has managed to gain over 4.1 million followers on Instagram. Now, fans of hers have created their own social media groups dedicated to cleaning and tidying tips.

In one of the groups, a Facebook user asked how to remove unpleasant fish smells from her home.

Dawn Wilkinson asked: “So we had smoked mackerel for tea last night. Now my house stinks of fish! How can I get rid of this smell?”

The post was inundated with a plethora of suggestions, however, the most common suggestion was to use a candle, specifically ones for ousting food smells.

Margaret Scotland commented: “I use kitchen candles from Wilko.

Another user called Becky Wells agreed with Holly.

She said: “I agree they are brilliant.”

Price’s Odour Eliminating Chef’s Candles can be bought in Lakeland for £3.99.

Amazon also sell them for around £6.69.

Rita Hayes said: “Cut a few onions in half and leave in bowls around the affected area.”

Hayley Gouveia commented: “Empty bin, open windows and Febreeze.”

Kath Mannion replied: “My mum used to leave all doors and windows open when cooking mackerel or kippers, I feel your pain.”

Rachael Parry said: “Make sure you have emptied the bin and washed the pots from last night and fill your sink up and add Zoflora. Open your windows.”
