Some of the ideas proposed for making Third Avenue inviting and safe are interesting. I am concerned though: I do not trust the current Seattle City Council to handle this situation. The shuttle idea is ridiculous enough that I’m afraid council members might run with it.
A “build it and they will come” approach, first making the street safe, would be best. Immediately address the needs of the street’s residents and build a police precinct. I believe former Seattle Police Chief Norm Stamper had that idea back in the 1990s, when Seattle was making its way to the top of America’s most desirable cities list.”
