Thousands of Twitter users have been left unable to access their social media account tonight due to a UK-wide outage. According to independent service DownDetector, which tracks the performance of websites and online services by monitoring mentions from customers across social media, more than 7,000 people are complaining about issues with the micro-blogging social network every minute. Using the location data stored with social media posts, DownDetector is able to show the concentration of complaints on a map of the UK, with London and Birmingham showing the highest number of offline users.
Twitter is available in your web browser. It also offers dedicated apps on iPhone, Android, as well as iPad and other tablets. Unfortunately, it seems the current issues have impacted all of these options. Twitter has yet to comment on the ongoing problems.
However, that’s not stopped plenty of users from posting messages saying they can’t twet tonight.
One Twtter fan, said: “Twitter has been down for me. It is back up now, but very flaky.”
These issues are fairly common with online services. With any luck, Twitter will be able to identify the glitch and resolve the outage as soon as possible.
