Things are getting lit for Nicole Richie as she enters her 40s.

The actor celebrated her 40th birthday on Tuesday and took to Instagram sharing a clip of her blowing out her birthday candles on a cake which appeared to have a photo of her when she was younger.

“Happy birthday Nicole,” was written in white frosting.

But in the clip, as the Simple Life star leans in, her hair catches fire.

She captioned the video: “Well… so far 40 is [flame emoji].”

Many took to the comments section of the post, wishing the star a happy birthday.

Good Charlotte singer and the actor’s husband, Joel Madden, with whom she shares children Harlow and Sparrow, commented, however: “That’s hot.”
