Thuso Mbedu is back on home soil. 

The South African actor, who is currently based in the USA, surprised her family with a visit home.

“My Favourite Part about last week. I was able to successfully surprise my family [sic],” Thuso captioned an Instagram video, showing her family’s reaction to her arrival. 

In the caption, the 30-year-old also detailed the various fibs that were told to keep her homecoming a secret.

Set to Joseph Solomon’s Homecoming, Thuso – who can currently be seen in Rihanna’s Savage x Fenty Fashion Show Vol. 3 – wrote: “I’ve cried to this song MANY times.”

“I wish I could’ve been able to surprise a lot more of my friends but there are soooo many it would’ve been a whole weekend affair. But you know I love you and I will see you soon,” she went on to say, adding: “This is Love [sic].” 

Thuso, who recently won TV Breakout Star award for The Underground Railroad at the Hollywood Critics Association TV Awards, will join Academy Award-winning actor Viola Davis in the upcoming feature film The Woman King. The Woman King will be directed by Gina Prince-Bythewood, who most recently directed The Old Guard.
