The extra light and warmth this month will encourage crops to thrive and grow more quickly in gardens.
While spring is the season most people plant their crops, there are certain vegetables and fruit that can still be planted in early summer.
The experts at Garden Street have shared exactly which vegetables, fruit and herbs to plant in June.
What to plant in June
Vegetables
The experts said: “Runner and French beans can be sown directly into the ground, along with beetroot, carrots, courgette and squash.
“Gardeners could also check if any previously planted vegetables are ready to harvest.”

Fruit
June is the month when fruit plants need more attention. If the weather is dry, gardeners will need to water fruit plants once a week.
Water can easily evaporate in hot weather so to ensure it hits the roots, gardeners may need to use a tube or a funnel.
Simply push a tube, funnel, or empty bottle into the soil then pour in the water.
This month, gardeners can plant melon plugs which can be sown in a sunny spot.
Melons need rich soil and grow well in polytunnels and greenhouses where temperatures are higher.
Melons like warm temperates from around 18C to 25C in order to germinate and thrive.
Growing melons outdoors is not reliable, even in warm areas as there’s not consistent heat, humidity and moisture.
Herbs
Make sure herbs are kept watered as the weather heats up and rain is less frequent.
Gardeners can now sow herb seeds directly into the ground. Some good options for this are rocket, calendula and nasturtiums.
